Buckeye Vacuum Cleaner Supply Company, Inc. was founded in 1929.
In the 20's all Upright vacuum cleaners were made of cast Aluminum and, since the United States was in the midst of the "Great Depression", folks kept their vacuums running as long as possible. It turned out that it was much cheaper to repair a vacuum than to replace it! The constant repair & rebuilding of the vacuum cleaners, including polishing the Aluminum tanks and canisters during a rebuild, gave birth to the Aftermarket Parts Industry. Recognizing the opportunity afforded by limited parts availability (only through vacuum makers' branch offices), the Strauss family founded what has become one of the nation's largest distributors!
As time passed, and the opportunity grew, Buckeye began making its own brand of parts to fit various makes and models. All situations eventually change and so did ours!
In addition to our own Dust Care Brand of parts, we are now Distributors for most major Floor Care Manufacturers.
Buckeye also stocks an extensive line of popular original and replacement parts.
Some good things never change!
Today, Buckeye is owned and operated by Kenard G. Strauss, son of the founder, and we still believe in delivering to our customers the best service and quality available!
Northwest Wholesale Distributors was founded in 1933 as the wholesale distribution arm of Starks vacuum stores in Portland, Oregon.
After WWII, Northwest Wholesale began purchasing from Buckeye for distribution in the Pacific Northwest. This business relationship continued until 1999 when the Starks organization decided to sell their wholesale division and concentrate on their retail stores.
In August of 1999, Kenard G. Strauss purchased Northwest Wholesale from the Stark family and brought it under the Buckeye umbrella.
Today, Northwest Wholesale Distributors operates as a division of Buckeye using the same catalogs, web site, and parts ordering technology to best serve our customers.
